Eurovision Song Contest 2021 crowned their winners last night with Måneskin taking the contest back to Italy, but the web is going mad and harmfully speculating over the use of drug by Damiano – singer of the band – during the Grand Final.
As we said in our previous article, during the Winner’s press conference after the victory of Måneskin at Eurovision 2021, a Swedish person accredited as press – that we do not call journalist, because a real journalist would have never asked such a question – asked the band if during the final of the competition, when the camera was filming them and saw Damiano bending towards the table for a few seconds, the lead singer was snorting cocaine.
The 2 seconds of video the haters went crazy about can be seen below:
Now tell me, how can a person snort drugs in less than 2 seconds, having a hand on their knee, being something like 10 cm far from the surface of the table, and above all, in such a crowded place full of cameras broadcasting live the whole event worldwide!? Who would be the idiot to do that?!
Really? This tastes like pure hate, and looks like a dirty game (or a shit-show) to take the trophy away from this band.
Soon after the press conference, Måneskin released an official statement on their Instagram Profile, saying that they were ready to be tested as they “have nothing to hide“.
Soon after the thousands of useless comments on the official website of Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU decided to release an official statement that we report here below:
“We are aware of the speculation surrounding the video clip of the Italian winners of the Eurovision Song Contest in the Green Room last night. The band have strongly refuted the allegations of drug use and the singer in question will take a voluntary drug test after arriving home. This was requested by them last night but could not be immediately organized by the EBU. The band, their management and head of delegation have informed us that no drugs were present in the Green Room and explained that a glass was broken at their table and it was being cleared by the singer. The EBU can confirm broken glass was found after an on site check. We are still looking at footage carefully and will update with further information in due course.”
As you can read, the band requested to be tested right away, but this was not possible, and Damiano himself, is getting tested independently on his return to Italy to stop these harmful allegations on their use of drugs and show the world that those were simply untrue assumptions.
Apparently some French TV stars are asking the EBU to rethink this victory: “Inadmissible”, notably tweeted TV presenter Cyril Hanouna, even calling up to Emmanuel Macron to intervene and give victory to the French Barbara Pravi if the facts were to be proven.
We simply hope these rumors can be stopped as quickly as possible and those haters sent back to their caves.
We also hope that the above journalist is no longer accepted at Eurovision Song Contest.
