Daniel Craig, best known for his icy cool take on James Bond, has taken a bold step into LGBTQ+ storytelling with his portrayal in Queer, a film adapted from William S. Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical novel. This move into playing a “complicated gay character” has sparked intrigue and applause, with Craig expressing a profound connection to the role. “Not Just Another Role” Craig revealed that his character in Queer is driven by unrequited love, loneliness, and the pain of rejection—a departure from the suave personas he’s famous for. “It’s not about being gay or straight,” Craig shared, highlighting that the story captures universal human struggles. For him, the essence of the role lies in exploring raw...

Trans Day of Remembrance 2024: Honouring Lives and Demanding Change

Trans Day Of Remembrance - we must not forget! Today, the world marks Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) —a poignant occasion to honour the memory of trans and gender-diverse individuals whose lives have been tragically cut short by violence and hate. The numbers released this year are heartbreaking: at least 350 trans people were killed globally in 2024, with many more likely unreported. Behind these statistics lie real people—friends, family members, partners, and colleagues—whose lives were filled with dreams, talents, and aspirations. Today, we remember them not as numbers but as cherished souls taken far too soon.   A Grim Reality The findings from Transrespect versus Transphobia Worldwide remind us that violence against the trans community remains a global epidemic. BFI Flare opens tonight with GIRL PICTURE

BFI Flare, London’s LGBTQ+ film festival, opens tonight with the gorgeous Finnish coming-of-age tale GIRL PICTURE. It focuses on three young women in their late teens, finding their way around life, love, anger and joy. Mimmi and Rönkkö are best friends, looking for intimacy, sex and fun.
