Trans conversion therapies: more than 50% of ex-patients attempted suicide.

This shocking and still so true news is the result of a study conducted in October 2020 by the Gender Identity Research & Education Society, the LGBT Foundation, the Ozanne Foundation and Stonewall. It is scary to read that 9 out of 10 trans and non-binary patients who were treated with conversion-therapies, have then experienced symptoms of anxiety and depression, but it is even worts to read that at least half of them have attempted suicide. The research that you can read here, also found that gender identity conversion therapy is “more widespread and often more violent” than most people actually realise. The UK is not facing easy times due to the Pandemic caused by Coronavirus, the Brexit which is approaching in less than 40 days and  the NHS which is fighting not to collapse under the hit of Covid-19 cases.  There is one thing, though, that is not depending on the obove situation, and for which the NHS will have to provide some explanations: their waiting times both for transgender adults and children that have waiting times of years!  NHS waiting time is 18 weeks, but some patients have to wait over 193 weeks only to get to their initial appointment. Indonesia is seeing an increase of intolerance towards the LGBT+ population, after undergoing a strong conservative shift in recent years. The country has a very peculiar situation that sees homosexuality technically legal in all but one province. Covid-19 restrictions in Panama are getting worse especially for Trans people.

Crazy rules and where to find them. On 1st April Panama implemented new rules for the self-isolations due to Covid-19 pandemic: men and women are allowed to go out of their houses for a max of 2 continuous hours per day on specific and alternate days. To be sure all citizens respect these restrictions, police are checking the gender on the ID cards, this is seriously effecting trans people (pre-surgery) around the country.
