Masterchef celebrity Riyadh Khalaf admits he was afraid his dad would have honour-killed him because gay.

Before being crowned, Riyadh Khalaf struggled through some dark times with his sexuality and the fear of being honour-killed for being gay. When Riyadh - Irish-Iraqi TV broadcaster and YouTuber - came out to his family at the age of 16, he had to face a really family rift, with his Irish-Catholic being supportive and his father appalled to face the reality of his soon being gay. “I was scared my father would honour-kill me”, Riyadh said. https://twitter.com/RiyadhK/status/1288934976818499602?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet His mum found that he was gay after she found some gay porn material on the family computer. Trans woman sent to men’s prison: a story of abuses and terrifying rapes

A trans woman from Virginia lived one of the most horrible experiences a trans person could live. As the WYDaily reports, Tykira Spruill’s nightmare began back in 2006 at St Bride’s Correctional Facility in Chesapeake, Virginia, after she was arrested for stealing. At that time she had recently started medically transitioning with hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and silicone injections in her face, but when she arrived she was stripped of any gender-affirming clothing and placed in a men’s area. But unfortunately it did not stop there, as she later got charged with “identity fraud charges” and when she was taken to prison the story repeated. She was still having silicone injections before she was incarcerated, and when she was taken the doctor on duty for an infection - always in the m...

California to collect data to investigate how Covid-19 is spreading in the LGBT+ community.

Governor Newsom called today’s announcement a move in the right direction. According to CBS Sacramento, California will be the first State in USA to track Covid-19 cases also on the basis of sexual orientation to understand how to help the LGBT+ community which - according to advocates - has been devastated by this pandemic. Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) worked with LGBT+ civil rights organisation Equality California to advocate for the collection of this data and introduced the Senate Bill 932 in May to require it. The bill passed the Senate on June 25 and is set to be heard in the Assembly Committee on Health in August. SB 392 would not only require the state to collect sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data for coronavirus, but also for all major communicable dis...

Film recommendation: The Old Guard

Charlize Theron leads a strong cast in this entertaining, refreshingly modern action fantasy. The summer is usually time for cinema trips blockbuster films – but not this year as most have been delayed and the cinemas are reopening with classics and indie films. But Netflix has picked up the slack so make your own popcorn (I’m getting pretty addicted to mine, to be honest) and settle down to the fun of The Old Guard. Based on a graphic novel series by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, the film follows a group of immortals who work as international mercenaries – and have been doing so across the eras. As they embark on their latest job, they also discover they have a new recruit, Nile (Kiki Layne, so luminous in If Beale Street Could Talk), and their group is in endangered by gatherin...

Gay Couple brutally beaten in Derry (Northern Ireland)

They only tried to defend a woman that was being harassed by a man. Emmett Doherty and Luke Bromilow were set upon in the early hours of Sunday morning outside a Chinese takeaway after they attempted to help a woman who was being harassed by men. Emmett simply told the man “don’t speak to a woman like that”, and in no time he became the target of the man’s homophobic slurs before getting beaten and left needing the help of doctors. The attack is being treated as a hate crime, and this is the case! Speaking to the Derry Journal, Emmett explained that he and his partner had been considering moving back to the city, but “that is obviously not going to happen now”.         He then added: “Luke is absolutely terrified, he wanted to go back early. He won’t leave the house. He is absolutely ...

Polish Feminist Activists gave a rainbow make-over to a Jesus’ statue.

As an act of rebellion against the ANTI-LGBT+ politics of the country, this group of Feminist Activists in Warsaw decided to give some colour to a symbol of power to fight against homophobia. A radical queer feminist group named Stop Bzdurom (Stop Bullshit) claimed responsibility for the protest against the homophobic situation of their country, hanging a Pride flag on a statue of Jesus and sharing a video on social media. They were very direct in their message, saying that homophobia is rampant and very dangerous in Poland, and they also promised to stand with the LGBT+ community that is “afraid to hold hands”. Their promise is clear and solemn: “As long as the Pride flag makes someone worse and ‘inappropriate’, we solemnly promise to provoke. […] We are pissed off that our symbol - a s...

Pope Francis accused of promoting sodomy in the Catholic Church.

According to the former Vatican Ambassador, Pope Francis would allow “heresy, sodomy and corruption” in the Catholic Church as he adheres to the “gay-agenda of the New World Order”. The Archbishop we are talking about is Carlo Maria Viganò, former Vatican ambassador to the United States, who is well-known for his ideas on Pope Francis. Before we get deep into the matter, we need to remember that yes, Pope Francis looks to be a bit more open towards homosexuality and acceptance of homosexuals in the Church, but still he has never really made a clear declaration about it. During a recent interview to Premier Christian News,  Carlo Maria Viganò claimed that the leaders of the Catholic Church were “mercenary infidels who seek to scatter the flock and hand the sheep over to be devoured by ra...

Russian Foreign Ministry formally told-off the UK, US and Canadian Embassies for flying a rainbow flag during pride month.

Homophobia at its purest state. “Yes, we passed a law banning the propaganda of homosexuality among minors. So what? Let people grow up, become adults and then decide their own destinies.” https://twitter.com/CanadaRussia/status/1276863053976436736?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1276863053976436736%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinknews.co.uk%2F2020%2F07%2F29%2Frussia-pride-flag-foreign-ministry-complaint-uk-us-canadian-embassy-rainbow-lgbt%2F This is what Putin said during the Pride month when he got told that the US Embassy was flying a rainbow flag out of their windows, but now things got formal and the Russian Foreign Ministry sent an official complaint to the UK, US and Canadian Embassies for having flown a rainbow flag during the pride month. Bristol sees a wave of “door-to-door” homophobia.

Police are carrying out door-to-door enquiries to collect “abhorrent” homophobic pamphlets that were delivered to residences in Bristol, the Bristol Live reports. There is a strong investigation taking place in Bristol after some anonymous people have pushed through letterboxes of the houses in Redland (a suburb of Bristol) a pamphlet with extremest anti-LGBT+ cartoons. These pamphlet listed homosexuality as a sin, alongside incest, child sacrifice and other bestialities. It all happened on Saturday 18th July. A police spokesperson said to the Bristol Live “We have received a report about offensive material being distributed in the Redland area in recent days. […]  House-to-house enquiries are being undertaken as part of an ongoing investigation.” The “Home Alone” comic warns of the dan...

Luke Strong just came out as bisexual, and the British sport panorama gets painted with rainbows always more.

The 27-year-old and five-time British champion trampoline gymnast publicly came out with a strong message for the homophobes. Luke has given the UK so many satisfactions with his sport titles, and in an interview with the BBC Sounds LGBT Sport Podcast, he gave the LGBT+ population even more satisfactions and explained that while this is the first time he has spoken publicly about his sexuality, his close friends and family have known for a while. He said: “I’ve never hidden anything and I’m really open about the fact that I’m attracted to both sexes, male and female, but I’ve never been in a relationship with either of them so I don’t know.” “I think like most people in the LGBT+ community, growing up is always a little bit difficult. Especially wearing a leotard, doing gymnastics, doin...
