Covid-19 and Gay Prides 2020 – what future?

The health of every citizen and the LGBT+ people is something that must stand above all.

The Covid-19 pandemic has required and is demanding to all of great efforts and sacrifices – which are minimal if we compare them to the effort and sacrifice of the medical staff fighting to the limit of their strength against this virus – and for this, it is  also necessary to make painful decisions for a greater good.

London Pride 2020 postponed

The organizers announced the decision in a statement released today March 23rd stating that the health and safety of the LGBT+ community is their “top priority”.

The event, which was to take place on June 27th, 2020, and which generally attracts more than one million people in the capital of Great Britain, has therefore been postponed to a date to be communicated. Communication that will surely be sent out as soon as the current situation gives the possibility of making more certain predictions.

It is a situation that affects almost the whole world and that day after day – if not hour after hour – evolves and forces us to readjust all our plans, even those long-term ones.

And in Italy?

Italy has had the highest impact after China so far: social and business events (eg. VinItaly) have been cancelled. What is the future of the so called Onda Pride 2020 (tr. Pride Wave 2020)?

For the moment being no communications have been made on cancellations, postponements or possible changes to the confirmed dates of the Pride Events in Italy.

The organizers have so far confirmed the same dates for each event (see below), and there are no communications on their FB pages (and/or websites).

We honestly think it is time for us all to take into consideration the health of every single citizen of this world, and rethink the whole calendar of events. It is a sacrifice to be made, but once this crazy moment will be over, we will all be grateful we did it.
