Cropped haircuts and political idiocy – Pt. 2

Let’s break down the myth that the right Honourable Jeremy Corbyn is a friend of the community. Mr Corbyn has shared platforms with Islamic cleric Sheik Raed Salah, who has called for all homosexuals to be thrown off rooftops, political activist Abu Jaja who demanded that homosexuals have their throats slit from left to right, the three meetings with the Islamic government of Tunisia who have implemented homosexuality as a punishable crime, the multiple private gatherings with the ex leader of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who publicly hanged homosexuals while Corbyn was and still is on Iran’s payroll and last but not least a large donation to the Labour party by the world renown Holocaust denier David Irwin was gracefully accepted (you can imagine what his stance would be on homosexuality con...

Being Raped? I thought it was what normally “happened to gay men”.

Stonewall co-founder Michael Cashman candidly revealed that he had been raped so regularly while growing up that he thought it was just "what normally happened to gays". Speaking to The Guardian, Michael opened up on how his childhood in East London and his theatrical career both suffered from the trauma of continuing sexual violence. Cashman - who is now 69 - described how, at the age of 12, performing in "Oliver!", He was approached by a cast member who sexually took advantage of the young actor. "I wanted my mother to rescue me," Cashman said, but this has only been one of a long series of abuses that the former Eastenders star has endured in his life so far. The first abuse at 8 years of age. Sexual abuse marked his youth: at eight years of age Michael was sexually assaulted by a ...

True love lasts forever. Seriously?

Once upon a time, love would last a lifetime. Today there's room for more than just one love in a lifetime: divorce rates keep rising while marriage drops. Why? As I said, "once upon a time" couples would stay together forever. Yes, that was back in the Middle Ages,  when only the luckiest people would get to turn 45 years of age as plague and starvation would kill you way before. At that time, aged 20 (or even earlier), you would get married and spend the other twenty years making babies and then die, yes, because there was no such thing as divorce. Today our life expectancy is way higher. We are aware that we can easily fall in love with someone or even hate that person; it only takes a moment. Just like any other thing in the world, love is born, grows, changes, dies, and turns into...

Cropped haircuts and political idiocy – Pt.1

So, if I don't look like that, does it mean I'm less lesbian than you? Today’s statement on what a lesbian must look like has been thwarted and dismembered by the ‘lesbian fashionistas’. Their statement does not cease at fashion but overlaps to what you should weigh and the requirement of lesbian behaviour. Dress codes change through time but the disputed distinctive lesbian look is today’s glorified symbol: Cropped haircuts, baggy clothes and bright or dark colours are acceptable. You cannot appear to symbolise femininity as the fight of lesbianism has shadowed the feminine ways of so many of us. To look, behave and to speak as a woman would be nothing more than traitorous and controversial to the movement. A minority of disregarded lesbians such as myself would class the lesbian moveme...

Germany bans conversion therapies for all people under 18.

“Homosexuality is not a disease, therefore the word therapy is misleading” (German health minister Jens Spahn) Yesterday, 7ht May 2020, Germany voted to definitely ban conversion therapies for LGBT+ people under the age of 18 and also introduced expensive fines for all adults forcing LGBT+ people to one of this dangerous treatments. Reuters reported that the health minister Spahn, who is the Christian Democrat party’s most high-profile gay politician, declared early yesterday , Thursday 7th May 2020: “I want a ban which will be robust, including if it’s brought before the courts. Young people are being forced into conversion therapies and so it is very important that they should find support in the existence of this law: a clear signal that the state does not want this to happen.” T...

Musileaks: Lady Gaga’s “Free Woman” leaks on twitter.

Yes, little “monsters”, twitter is a fantastic place (almost for everything, if you know what I mean), and this time … actually just last night while I could not fall asleep, I bumped into this tweet: https://twitter.com/Gypsypop2/status/1258599382406094850 The entire twitter community went crazy, and no-one could actually believe this song leaked… but hey… not only some music leaked and all Gaga’s fans finally could take a breath of fresh air, but also what might be the official lyrics leaked, and we do like them so much. https://twitter.com/LG_Views/status/1258619940799725569 Do you remember when Lady Gaga spoke about Free Woman in a PAPER magazine interview? “In 2020, what does it mean to be a free woman? Can I feel free on my own? Do I need to be loved in order to feel l...

Coronavirus might be sexually transmitted

Coronavirus might be lurking in semen. This is what a gourd of scientists from China have found, as it is possible to read on the paper, published in JAMA Network Open, a peer-reviewed open-access medical journal, but these result do not prove that coronavirus can be sexually transmitted in all cases. To better understand how this virus could hit us again and avoid possible pandemics, Dr Weiguo Zhao of the Eighth Medical Center of Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital in Beijing and Dr Shixi Zhang of the Shangqiu Municipal Hospital in Henan, analysed samples of sperm of 38 patients aged between 15 and 38 (all positive to Covid-19) and noted that subjects varied in their rates of illness. Amongst them only 4 of those patients who were recovering from the virus, were fou...

Film recommendation – Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Portrait de la jeune fille en feu)

Watch this stunning French lesbian period drama. This ravishing story of female passion and desire set in 18th-century France is a beautiful masterpiece about love, creativity and the power of just looking. Or, as director Céline Sciamma says, it is about the ‘gaze’ (or is that the – female – gays?). It is a sumptuous love story set in 18th-century France. Artist Marianne must secretly paint the portrait of countess’s daughter Héloïse in the hope it will find her a wealthy husband, although Héloïse doesn’t want to be married – or painted. Nevertheless, a burgeoning attraction between artist and subject develops. Exploring women’s roles in society within a historical context, Sciamma has crafted a poignant, exquisite portrait of female desire and solidarity. Portrait of a Lady on Fir...

Film recommendation – Nina’s Heavenly Delights

This is a fun, low-budget film set in the Indian community of Glasgow. It’s a feast of romance, family dynamics and glorious curries with queer representation ahead of its times. It’s not going to become one of your classics, but it makes for a fun night in, and is available to rent on Vimeo. Nina returns home for her father’s funeral, having fled Glasgow to escape an arranged marriage. She mourns her father, an award-winning chef who taught her everything she knows about cooking curries. She decides to try to save her father’s restaurant and win The Best of the West Curry Competition in his honour. But to do so, she must work with Lisa, who co-owns the restaurant. As they practise their dishes, a friendship develops between them and romantic sparks fly. But can Nina let herself go, ...
