Festival di Sanremo 2023 – second night and first general classification

The so awaited second night of the Festival di Sanremo 2023 gave us new songs to fall in love with, with the remaining artists finally performing on that stage. I  might say it was almost an easy show, for our hots Amadeus, Gianni and Francesca: no surprises, no one smashing anything on the stage and no disruptions, if not some minor tech issues with a couple of singers. What we predicted here, it is almost reality: Marco Mengoni is still leading the rankings after two nights. The Press Room - that was the only one to vote for the first 2 days - decided that the best artist/song so far it is Marco. There is still a long way to go till the big final on Saturday night, and changes, surprises can still happen. I can’t obviously say that I completely agree with the rankings so far: Elodie ...

Andromache will represent Cyprus with “Ela”

The Greek-German singer Andromache was announced as the Cypriot representative for Eurovision 2022. The song is called "Ela" (meaning: come) and has an international distinguished team behind its production: Alex Papaconstantinuou (Fuego hitmaker), Arash (Azerbaijan's 2009 representative), Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Fatjon Mifftaraj, Filloreta Raci Fifi, Geraldo Sandell, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Robert Uhlmann, Viktor Svensson and Yll Limani. Russia is banned from Eurovision Song Contest 2022

The executive board of European Broadcaster Union has finally decided on excluding Russia from Eurovision 2022, following an increasing pressure by several European broadcasters. Denmark, Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands, Iceland and Lithuania had also requested EBU to rethink about the decision. Ultimately, Finland and Estonia threatened not sending a representative to Turin, if Russia takes part. Citi Zeni, Latvia's representatives, also urged EBU to kick out Russia from the contest. Eurovision has always stood as as a safe place where unity, dialogue and diversity are common valu...
