Watch the film – and Q&A – God’s Own Country

It’s time for a watch – or rewatch – of 2017’s God’s Own Country – ready for an online Q&A on Sunday 17 May. If you haven’t yet seen 2017’s God’s Own Country, you really, really should; if you have – you will know exactly what I mean. Either way, now is the time for a watch or rewatch, as director Francis Lee and the two lead actors Josh O’Connor and Alec Secareanu are going to be chatting and answering questions live on Picturehouse Facebook and Youtube on Sunday 17 May, 8pm BST. Uganda: 20 people arrested because they were gay, but police say it was Covid-19 prevention.

Uganda denies that 20 arrested people were targeted because they were gay. Fourteen gay men, two bisexual men and four transgender women were arrested on March 29th when police raided a refuge on the outskirts of the Ugandan capital Kampala. At least four of the 20 people arrested live with HIV and cannot have access to life-saving drugs, according to an activist. The police accused all 20 people of defying the rules of social distancing, but activists accuse the authorities of using the coronavirus pandemic excuse to target country's LGBT+ minorities. Patricia Kimera, a lawyer who is defending the group with the Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum, said that those people living with HIV are denied access to antiretroviral drugs and that all 20 of them run the risk of contrac...

Curdin Orlik comes out as gay.

“It is better to be yourself than to live in fear of who you really are." Swiss Swing Wrestler Champion, Curdin Orlik decided to come out and talk about his homosexuality a few days after the historic vote where the Swiss people voted in favour of a law that severely punishes all homotransphobic discriminations. Many users on social media have praised his choice to come out and the entire sport world got so positively shaken by this brave man that we hope many other sportsmen will want to follow his example. Curdin, 27, who has got a child from a former wedding, said: "I have been gay since I was 12. [...] This is me, I can't help it. That's how I was born. I have hidden who I really am. Now I want to be free." The Swiss Gay Pink Cross Federation said they are pleased to welcome a ne...
