Hungary: Orban and his hold on Trans People’s rights.

The fight against Coronavirus is the used excuse, and Viktor Orban gets full powers to fight the invisible enemy, but apparently, in his plans there would be much more. In recent years, Hungary has repeatedly seen episodes of homophobia and racism because of the extremist drift fomented by President Orban and his party. Last Monday, however, the Hungarian parliament agreed to extend Orban's already strong powers by granting him the right to rule by decree indefinitely. What does it mean? Well. It means that the Hungarian president will be able to make decisions on his own without needing or having to consult other legislators. Orban is not alone in his insane battle against human rights: if on Monday morning his powers had already become untouchable, in the afternoon his deputy Zsol...

Onward gets censored in Russia and Saudi countries

This is what happens when ignorance and homophobia get together. Disney-Pixar's Onward introduces us to the first openly gay character in the history of animated movies: Agent Specter, who in a quick joke, talks about her girlfriend and her daughter who "makes her lose her mind" Lena Waithe, the voice of Agent Specter in this cartoon, had the idea to let her character talk about a girlfriend rather than a husband. She told the director: “Can I say it? Isn’t it cooler? The word husband does not work”. Indeed the word girlfriend worked a lot better, but this was enough to scare those homophobic countries like Russia and Saudis which just cannot accept Agent Specter’s homosexuality. So, just in a time when the world economy has to deal with a frightening enemy, this damned COVID -19, Saudi...

Vladimir Putin proposes to re-write Russian Constitution with new and very anti-LGBT+ rules.

“Marriage will be defined as the union of a man and a woman”. This and many other proposals are among those constitutional amendments that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin proposed and which are set to be put to a public vote. This is clearly a strategical move that Mr Putin wants to play to keep a hold on his power even when his presidential term would end in 2024. Amongst the proposals for the change of Russia’s Constitution we can also find a proclamation of Russians' faith in God and a very strong ban on giving away any Russian territory, and this would of course, strengthen Russia’s power on Crimea which legally belongs to Ukraine but that got annexed to Russia in 2014. These changes will continue Putin’s homophobic and anti-LGBT+ position, putting a ban on possible civil uni...

Croatia: a group of people burns the effigy of a gay couple with a child for Carnival celebrations.

The happening was condemned by the actual Croatian President, Zoran Milanović Carnival floats are always poorly politically correct but when people celebrate to racism and homophobia, then it is really too much. This is what happened in Croatia where at the end of a carnival parade, an effigy of a gay couple with a child was burned amid the cheering screams of the crowd around. During the weekend, the city of Imotski sported an effigy of a gay couple, wrapped in a rainbow scarf with a child in their arms, for the carnival parade that was held in the streets of the city to then set it on fire as part of the carnival celebrations. The couple's child had the face of the deputy of the left Social Democratic Party Nenad Stazić, who recently asked that same-sex couples could be allowed to ...

Ekdal: “Gays in football are afraid of coming” out –  VIDEO

During the Sport VS Homophobia meeting held at the European Parliament in Brussels, Albin Ekdal spoke bluntly: “In our sport, only eight players have come out homosexuals, an extremely small number. Many would like to, but they don’t feel free to do so, fearful of negative reactions ". Watch the full video below: https://www.facebook.com/tizianabeghineuropa/videos/715201422348597/   In the video Edkal told how gay players who would like to come out "feel obliged to flee to hide and live in fear" and that "we need to fight back on this issue harnessing education as a force for good.”  “In an ideal world, nobody would feel uncomfortable coming out as homosexual, whether in their everyday life or in football. Unfortunately the reality is somewhat different.” “Being h...
