Brazil: the Supreme Court ends blood donation restrictions for Gay people

It took four years but Brazil has a new ruling when it comes to blood donations. This is a historic win for the LGBT+ community in Brazil which has experienced tremendous restrictions when it came to blood donations.  The new ruling comes out after that last 8th May, 7 of 11 justices voted for banning the law that did not allow men who’ve had sex with other men within the previous twelve months to donate blood. The voting against this unconstitutional rule - that was imposing restrictions on the simple basis of sexual orientations - happened at the Supreme Federal Cours in Brasilia, as the Guardian reported in this article.  Supreme Court Minister - Edson Fachin - wrote on his vote: “Instead of the state enabling these people to promote good by donating blood, it unduly restrict...

Amal Fashanu says that 5 famous footballers in the UK will shortly come out as gay.

And they are all recognisable names. Amal - Justin Fashanu’s niece - runs a charity where 5 famous footballers are being counselled at the moment, about their homosexuality and their "living in the closet". This is what we can read in her interview to The Sun. She said: “No one wants to be the first. In their minds these guys are trapped, ashamed. They think society won’t accept it so instead they live their lives in secret. It’s sad that this has to happen. But they would be a trailblazer.” Her uncle Justin (the first openly gay UK footballer) committed suicide in 1998 after being accused of sexual assault of a 17-year-old boy – an accusation that was never proven true, and her dad admitted feeling “guilty every day” after he payed his brother not to come-out. Amal also added: “...

Netflix stands up for LGBT+ characters

International streaming giant Netflix has defended the decision to host characters representing the LGBT+ community throughout its slate, in opposition of a derogatory tweet. The tweet featured a meme with characters from Spongebob Squarepants, suggesting that the use of queer characters in television programmes was unnecessary, stating: “Every damn new series”.  The succinct reply from the communications team at Netflix was simply, “Sorry you have yet to realize that every gay person is very necessary”. https://twitter.com/netflix/status/1258156383792279552 The response has so far provoked more than 660,000 likes, over 107,000 retweets and more than 9,500 responses - both positive and negative. There was an overarching message of support from the majority of those replying with ...

Indonesian Trans people forced to attend cruel exorcisms to be cured.

Indonesia is seeing an increase of intolerance towards the LGBT+ population, after undergoing a strong conservative shift in recent years. The country has a very peculiar situation that sees homosexuality technically legal in all but one province. LGBT+ people are considered to be sexual deviants where their homosexuality is thought to be the result of evil spirits’ possession, which can only be “cured” through horrifically cruel religious ceremonies of exorcism. The Bangkok Post published an interview where various victims of these exorcisms spoke about their experiences: For example, Andin, a 31-year-old transgender woman told the newspaper: “It’s traumatising – the horror of that memory stays in my head.” She had to go through years and years of abuses and violences of all k...

Turkish Children asked to stop drawing rainbows as this will turn them gay.

Pure idiocy. We all know that unfortunately Turkey, since their actual president is on his “throne” and politics allows always more space to extremist religious parties, homophobia has seen a peak and the poor Turkish LGBT+ population is having an always more hard life. A few days ago, with the beginning of the Ramadan, the head of religious affairs gave a very homophobic speech, where he blamed LGBT+ people for poisoning the youth, with their corrupted ideology. Apparently these words sorted effects on the ministry of education that has ordered schools and educators to stop children from drawing rainbows as these are symbols of the LGBT+ perversion that will turn all children gay. There is more! As reported on the JPost, The Museum of Modern Art of Instambul launched a campaign acr...

50Cent and his homophobic posts on Instagram

Such a repeater. Yes, 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) thinks that trolling Young Buck (since last year, apparently) is fun, but what is more fun is to make jokes on LGBT+ people.  Really sweetie? But how did it start?  Last year around this time he started trolling Young Buck on line with this post: ““Young Buck is almost ready to drop his album. He worked hard on this project, I told him his personal choice to date a tran sexual [sic] will confuse some of his core audience but with the support of the LGBT+ he should be fine.” A big homophobic offense for the LGBT+ Community - especially for trans people - and a free unneeded disgusting joke toward a colleague. Already in 2015 he wrote: “If you are a man and your [sic] over 25 and you don’t eat p***y just kill yourself damn ...

Owning homophobic comments: we should all learn from this brand!

By continuing to come back to this post and commenting will continue to push it out to other people. We know how instagram works, don’t we? Well, let me tell you that if we like a pic or comment it, IG will understand that this post is interesting and it will automatically be pushed to more users on that social network, who will like it themselves (or maybe write a comment to it) and other people will see that post in their feed too… and so on. This is basically what is happening to Playful Promises - a famous British Lingerie brand - that on Saturday, posted a pic of Jake DuPree - the famous “merman” from Los Angeles, wearing a dusty rose bra and suspender set.“ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_pWqOQBcnN/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loadingù “Jake DuPree causing heart palp...

Italy – when homosexuality is compared to mental illness.

Wedding is NULL because his wife is Lesbian. This is what happens in Apulia, south of Italy, in a beautiful region reach of history, art, great food and breathtaking beaches, where religion is way too strong to sometimes stop homophobia, and where Anna - this is the name of this unlucky character - found her self to be considered guilty of “mental illness” simply because she understood and accepted she was Lesbian.  She has been married to Antonio for over 10 years, gave him three beautiful children and slowly, with an inner struggle, she finally understood and accepted her homosexuality, but for the Apulian Ecclesiastical Court and for the Cassation this has been recognized as a disabling reason for the marriage and therefore for its immediate dissolution through the Roman Rota. Th...

Turkmenistan: famous showman and his partner arrested for being gay.

Turkmenistan is not a place for LGBT+ people. We spoke about this side of the world in a recent post, but the news we keep on receiving from this area is not really encouraging. A very famous showman from Turkmenistan has been arrested last month, together with his partner and a dozen of other men around the country simply for being gay, even though police officers used the excuse of suspicion of homosexual activities. News and rumors of the gay showman’s arrest came out just a few days after we reported the horrible experience of the young man brutally beaten by police and forced to flee his country simply because he has HIV. Around the arrest of this famous Turkmen showman there is still too much unclarity, and a source told Radio Free Europe that the well-known actor had been ...

A Filippino politician created very homophobic and shameful punishments for LGBT+ people not respecting isolation amid Covid-19 pandemic.

Filippino’s craziness.  A Filipino politician reportedly forced some LGBT+ people - which did not respect isolation during this Coronavirus pandemic - to kiss each other and perform “sexy dance” in front of minors and other people as a punishment. Christopher Bombing Punzalan - this is the name of this captain (elected chairman) of the Pandacaqui barangay (district) - he particularly targeted LGBT+ people (according to Rappler) and if he found them out of their houses “breaking the rules” of Covid-19 curfew, he started punishing them in very humiliating ways. He also posted a series of Facebook live videos of him confronting a group breaking the 8pm lockdown curfew, those videos have now been deleted. (Who know why?) He accused a group of gay people he found out in the streets to be o...
