The Italian LGTB+ population and that huge majority of Italians that love and want Civil Rights for all, started a huge protest after Zan Bill got stopped during its run to become a law. Zan Bill - Anti Homotransphobia - had already been bounced, delayed and longly discussed before getting completely stopped two days ago in the Italian Senate, and unfortunately the images we saw of that vote, were images that could only belong to a nation of troglodytes. British Airways is not the first nor the last, but surely the latest airline to drop the old “ladies and gentlemen” greeting on-board in favour of gender-neutral greetings. We maybe needed a lockdown to allow many airlines to rethink their strict policies and open their views on social issues too, but apparently this change of announcement has been made in order to “reflect the diversity” of the always larger number of children travelling after lockdown and the increasing recognition of trans and non-binary customers flying onboard of their aircrafts. Pilots and Cabin Crew members have been asked to use gender-neutral language when making their pre-flight announcement and welcome speeches. This past couple of years have been very complicated for the whole world, for sure, but for the LGBT+ community, things have been even worst - sometimes. This pandemic forced people to live together in narrow spaces: too often LGBT+ people had to live in hostile environments and their lives, their mental health were put in serious risk. Un unthinkable and unacceptable reinforcement of discriminating laws agains the rainbow community of Kuala Lumpur is about to be voted by the government soon. Putrajaya’s Government is decided to go ahead with a new set of laws that foresees heavier and punishments for all people found guilty of practicing LGBT+ related acts (eg. Having sex with someone of the same gender, or being in a same-sex relationship, etc), by increasing the sentencing limits to the Syariah Courts - which is part of the criminal jurisdiction - according to the Act 1965-355.
