An Hungarian MEP belonging to the leading party with Viktor Orban resigned from his role yesterday after police caught him, other politicians and diplomats in an illegal party in Brussels on Friday 27th November 2020. József Szajer used to be one of the most powerful MEPs in Hungarian leading party - Fidesz - and on Friday he was stopped by police after reports of a house party violating lockdown rules. The party turned out to be a private drug-based event that ended up in a gay orgy. This is what is reported to have happened that night  BBC reports that at around 9.00 pm local time police were alerted by some neighbours complaining bout noises and potential lockdown breaches in an apartment located on Rue des Pierres in the centre of the Belgian capital. Italian Political Panorama gets enriched with a completely LGBT+ Party: Partito Gay

Italy is facing a big social revolution which has seen the approval of an Anti-Homophobia Act and the creation of a political party made of all LGBT+ representatives. The press conference to present this new party to the world, opens with a touching and still so real video of LGBT+ people around Italy that have suffered and still suffer from Homophobic attacks and offences. Some of them, as they tell us in the video, still receive today death threatens or get publicly offended and threatened on social media simply for being who they are. All these witnesses have been spontaneously submitted by LGBT+ people around Italy to a project called #LGBTLivesMatter (launched by Gay Center Roma) during the first lock-down due to Covid-19. Fabrizio Marrazzo famous Italian LGBT+ activist, founder...

#MusicFriday – New music release – LE DEVA

We met Le Deva when they released their first song in support of the LGBT+ community in Italy, the song was called "L'amore merita" (that according to the lyrics I would translate as "Love deserves to be freely lived") - and now they're out with a new single "Brillare da sola". (tr. shining alone). The group was born in 2016 and is a girl-band who had a past in talent shows in Italy. In their songs they have always been singing about equal rights and equal love for everyone. "Brillare da sola" is an invitation to find in our-selves the strength to face our everyday "battles" and to stop looking for support from other people that sometimes may suddenly disappear from our lives and leave us down. Roberta Pompa, Greta Manuzzi, Laura Bono and Verdiana Zangaro form Le Deva and this new s...

Pope Francis and Gay Civil Partnerships: the following day.

"Gay people have the right to a family and to a normal citizenship". Yesterday Pope Francis gave hopes to all those LGBT+ people in Italy who are still waiting on a proper law that would protect them and give them dignity in a country that has still got a lot to do in terms of equal rights. Toda - instead - after all the astonishment that Pope Francis’ words caused both to those conservative bigots and to the LGBT+ population around the world, here we have a little stop to all that joy: "Be careful not to reach wider consequences than the premises. Francis simply says that if two people, even of the same sex, decide to live together, in a form of stable coexistence, they have the right to ensure that their choices are protected. But does not in any way open to marriage between h...

Viktor Orban wants gay people to ‘leave our children alone’ in a homophobic attack to lesbian Cinderella book.

The Far-Right and homophobic prime minister of Hungary decided that a fairy-tale story book was way too dangerous for Hungarian children. That he is such a homophobic character very linked to the same politics of his fellow-politician Mr. Putin, we never had any doubt about, and now he is attacking a story book for children that is trying to show the reality of our days and features LGBT+. The book itself is a sweetened reflection of a normal society, and its characters include people with disabilities, the elderly, the poor and people from minority ethnic backgrounds having the majority of the stories with no references to the LGBT+ world if not just some light references, the far-right party in Hungary, together with the help of the Prime Minister, have seized upon the handful that d...

He wrote: "The media inform us that the homosexual parade in Sarajevo has been postponed due to the coronavirus. ... In every misfortune and tragedy - there is also a grain of happiness, goodness and beauty. Thank Allah for everything. ... May dear Allah grant that the crown and the...

GLAAD is calling for LGBT+ people and their allies to stop Trump re-election.

GLAAD’s president, Sarah Kate Ellis is asking the LGBT+ population to act ahead of the US Elections. Sarah, in her open-hearted op-ed for The Advocate said: “We have 100 days to impact the course of history and put LGBTQ+ equality and social justice back on the forward-moving path,” and then urged everyone to register to vote, to talk to 10 people they know about how the election impacted and could impact them as an LGBT+ person, and, crucially, to get out and vote on 3rd November. Already in 2018 mid-terms USA experienced a real “rainbow-wave” with the LGBT+ population electing public figures at all levels, and Sarah is positive that “we can do the same in the U.S. Senate” this year. GLAAD has been monitoring Trump presidency over these years and unfortunately him and his administratio...

Italy: the proposed law against homophobia could favour homophobes and not the LGBT+ people if the basic text is not changed.

Majority and opposition in full agreement to sanction the right to discriminate and be homophobic. From today, according to the recently modified text of the bill against homo-transphobia in Italy, you can insult any LGBT+ person and be homophobic, and still you would not be punished by law. Oh yeah! Because if "Italy is a country that does not discriminate!", then the flood of protests against the proposed law against homotransphobia that we are facing, and that are coming from the right parties, those extremist also the so called "Catholic-Fiscists", do not makes no sense. Among the first ones to contest the bill we find Matteo Salvini who continues in full denial style, to shift media's attention to something else, coming to sputtering absurd ideas as the one that there is no differen...
