French MP Clément Beaune comes out publicly and announces a trip to Poland.

The French MP for European Affairs, Clément Beaune has decided to publicly come out on the eve of a trip to one of the so-called "LGBT-free zones" in Poland. An almost unexpected action by this French MP who said: "I'm gay. I have no problems in revealing it", which happened just a little before his trip to Poland, a very homophobic easter European country. The initiative is also linked to its commitment to defending the rights of the LGBT+ community in the rest of Europe. The message was given to an LGBT+ French magazine, Le Têtu. The minister explained that his homosexuality has never been an obstacle in his political career, and he announced his next visit to one of the Polish municipalities that have declared themselves "LGBT-free". "I wouldn't want people to say I'm fighting 'L...

Hungary bans same-sex couples from adopting children

Victor Orban and his homophobic group of MPs are continuing the ferocious and hatred campaign agains Hungarian LGBT+ population. The legislation put forward by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's right-wing government says only married couples can adopt, with some exceptions for single relatives of the child who is going to be adopted. Until this law, even if same-sex marriage is illegal in Hungary, adoption has been possible if one partner applied on their own. This is such a dark moment for human rights, and not only in Hungary. From now on single people will require special approval from the government to adopt. In the same amendment approved on Tuesday family is defined as "based on marriage and the parent-child relation. The mother is a woman, the father a man". B...

The #FreakyTripToRotterdam continues with Senhit wishing “Merry Christmas” in a very special way.

Never before has a Eurovision singer gone so far, perhaps also because never before have we experienced such an unusual year in the history of this festival. Senhit, Italian singer running under San Marino's flag, which we interviewed here, is working the extra mile to take us all with her on a #FreakyTripToRotterdam. She has already sung different remakes of famous Eurovision songs, and all of them have been restyled, renewed and reinterpreted in unique ways, bringing messages of positivity, hope and love to all listeners. This new remake is a song that won Eurovision in 2017, sung by Salvador Sobral from Portugal, a song that already brings a powerful message of love and strength, where the loving one in the couple is aware that maybe the other person is not ready to love, is ...

World AIDS Day – reflections in the movies

Film can be pure entertainment, but it can also be a way for us to learn about our history, examine complicated issues, sit with our emotions and work for the future. Today, on World Aids Day, here are three recommendations of films to watch as we commemorate those who have died and work to support those who are living with HIV, uniting to fight the disease globally. We Were Here is a powerful documentary charting the effects of the disease in San Francisco’s gay community. The film is built around testimony from five men and women who experienced those years firsthand: Guy Clark, a flowerseller in the Castro; nurse Eileen Glutzer; Paul Boneberg, who founded Mobilization Against Aids; Ed Wolf, a counsellor; and HIV-positive artist Daniel Goldstein. In the late 1970s San Francisco was a ...

World AIDS Day – HIV treatments, vaccine and Covid-19 Pandemic.

Covid-19 Pandemic has put all HIV patients in serious risks and slowed down all testings and treatments. According to UNAIDS: The lockdowns and border closures imposed to stop COVID-19 are impacting both the production of antiretroviral medicines and their distribution, potentially leading to increases in their cost and to supply issues. Recent modelling has estimated that a six-month complete disruption in HIV treatment could lead to more than 500,000 additional deaths from AIDS-related illnesses. If services to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV were similarly halted for six months, the estimated increases in new child HIV infections would be 162% in Malawi, 139% in Uganda, 106% in Zimbabwe and 83% in Mozambique. The global experience of tackling HIV can help info...

World AIDS Day 2020 – the numbers, the stigma, the fight.

The importance to keep on fighting this "beast" seen under the light of a new global pandemic. Yes, global pandemic is who the WHO describes AIDS/HIV, and unfortunately, this monster does not stop in front of a new virus threatening our lives; this beast does not give any breaks to scientists looking for a cure as it keeps on changing shape, it evolves and gets more dangerous. As of 2018, approximately 37.9 million people are infected with HIV globally and the numbers do not seem to slow down even during Covid-19 pandemic. We'd like to share some Global Statistics of 2020 according to Wikipedia HIV & AIDS Statistics 25.4 million [24.5 million–25.6 million] people were accessing antiretroviral therapy in 2019. 38.0 million [31.6 million–44.5 million] people globally wer...
