Israel tries to ban conversion therapies for LGBT+ People

Israel becomes the first country in the Middle East to ban a sick and primitive practice. Only 30 years ago - in 1990 - W.H.O removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses, and immediately afterwards also the American Psychological Association and other similar and very influential scientific institutions in the world, warned of the deleterious mental consequences that people can have when "doctors" want to forcefully change someone's sexual orientation. Lobotomy was formerly used (in those cases which were considered 'difficult'), today, those countries that still allow such therapies, the use of hard mental practices, such as "pray the gay away"  - which are worse than a lobotomy - make "patients" fall into confusing states of mind that too often result in suicides. Donald Trump gets silenced by historic Supreme Court’s ruling.

The Supreme Court ruling says employers can’t fire people for being LGBT+ The court ruled that existing provisions under the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which outlaw discrimination based on sex, also apply to cases where “an employer fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender”. This act extends the sex-based employment discrimination protections known as Title VII to LGBT+ people in all 50 states, stopping (hopefully erasing soon) the thousands of obstacles put in place by Donald Trump’s presidency and his cabinet. Neil Gorsuch - conservative justice - wrote: “It is impossible to discriminate against a person for being homosexual or transgender without discriminating against that individual based on sex. Consider, for example, an employer with two employees, both of whom a...

Switzerland moves forward the approval of Equal Marriage.

Luckily during Pride Month there are Countries who make a real difference for their LGBT+ communities improving their lives. Unlike what is happening in Poland, Switzerland is moving towards real equal rights for every citizen. There is a big "Yes" to the project for the application of the parliamentary initiative of the liberal Green Party proposing "Equal marriage for all" and "yes" to lesbian couples applying to receive donor's semen to get pregnant. The Swiss National Council approved - with 132 votes against 52 and 13 abstentions - the dossier that would finally allow real equality for all Swiss citizens regardless of social class. If everything goes in the right direction, and therefore also the Council of States will adopt the above dossier - which is very likely to happen - Switz...

Polands gets even more homophobic with their president picturing the LGBT+ community as enemies.

And some people still ask why we need Gay Prides every year. The air in Poland is getting barely breathable for the LGBT+ community that after the “LGBT+ free zones” are now being portrayed as enemies by Poland’s president which is looking for a second term of power in this month of elections. To make sure he gets a better social impact on the population, Andrzej Duda pleased those nazi-catholic groups of people (including religious representatives) by signing a “family-values-declaration”, where he promised to always “protect children from LGBT+ ideology” and prohibit the spread of such ideas involving public institutions that will have to make sure that nothing like this will ever happen. President Duda said: “This is a foreign ideology that we won’t allow to be introduced into our cou...

Poland: Police brutally interrogates university students for hours, for reporting homophobic professor at their University.

Police in Poland have interrogated university students after they filed an official complaint against a homophobic, anti-abortion, anti-LGBT+ professor. The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behaviours in Poland reported that some students at the University of Silesia In Kotowice - Southern Poland - have been interrogated by police officers for hours and when they left they were ’shaken’…. almost in shock. https://www.facebook.com/osrodek.monitorowania/posts/1262975603877570   In a Facebook post yesterday, (that you can also see above), the organisation reported what the students went though: “This looks like an audition for intimidation, not standard law enforcement activities,” wrote The Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behaviors, which is providing legal ...

Hungary approves bill to ban gender recognition.

There’s no limit to homophobia in Hungary. The LGBT+ community of Hungary is facing new and dangerous challenges after the approval of a bill to ban legal gender recognition. This is putting the Trans community in physical and psychological danger. Basically today, a government-backed bill to replace the terms 'gender' with 'birth sex' on all legal documents issued in the country, was legally approved and effectively  prevents any form of legal recognition for transgender people in the EU state - it passed by 133 votes to 57. The bill has been condemned by LGBT+ organisations across Hungary as well as the Hungarian Psychological Association. Hungarian LGBT+ rights organisation Háttér Society called on Hungarian president to prevent the bill from being signed into law, they added: “We w...

LGBT+ people’s fears across Europe. A new research shows very interesting results.

“We deserve to feel safe in our country without being afraid to hold hands with our spouse. Today, this is not a reality.”  This is what one of the 140,000 interviewed LGBT+ people across Europe, North Macedonia, Serbia and the UK, added to his survey before handing it to FRA - The European Agency for Human Fundamental Rights - that published an interesting data on the quality of life of the European LGBT+ population. The research, called  “A long way to go for LGBTI equality”, touched different and interesting points related to the quality of life of a person and to their fundamental human rights. Data shown in this survey are also compared to a similar survey dated 2012. What is very worrying is the percentage of LGBT+ experiencing discrimination in normal life or even when when l...

South Korea sees a peak of homophobia during a new cluster of Coronavirus cases

South Korean LGBT+ community has been in the target of newspapers and media that accuses the community to be guilty for the spread of coronavirus in the country. As te Guardian reported in this article, almost 100 new cases of Covid-19 have been linked to bars and clubs in Itaewon, the city's underground gay district in South Korea. But the newspapers and media got too far now: they revealed personal information of a gay man in the city who tested positive to Coronavirus, putting his life in big danger. South Korea is a country where speaking about sexuality and sex remains a real taboo and where pornography is banned. Some politicians have tried to ease the tension and this increasing homophobia, but they have never publicly acknowledged the LGBT+ community. Last Saturday 9th May, ...

Brazil: the Supreme Court ends blood donation restrictions for Gay people

It took four years but Brazil has a new ruling when it comes to blood donations. This is a historic win for the LGBT+ community in Brazil which has experienced tremendous restrictions when it came to blood donations.  The new ruling comes out after that last 8th May, 7 of 11 justices voted for banning the law that did not allow men who’ve had sex with other men within the previous twelve months to donate blood. The voting against this unconstitutional rule - that was imposing restrictions on the simple basis of sexual orientations - happened at the Supreme Federal Cours in Brasilia, as the Guardian reported in this article.  Supreme Court Minister - Edson Fachin - wrote on his vote: “Instead of the state enabling these people to promote good by donating blood, it unduly restrict...
