Naples to open a shelter for LGBT+ people amidst Coronavirus outbreak

Naples has a very big heart. People have always been very divided when speaking about Naples: there’s always been and there’ll alway be  who will have good world for this city and who instead will have bad words, it has been and it will always be difficult to find someone who is realistic about this city, someone who can take pros and cons of Naples and analyse them… but hey, this is not the moment to do it. Naples, however, has a great tradition of acceptance and integration (questionable, of course, but in its own way it something unique) of LGBT+ people, and in times of great difficulty this city knows how to show everyone their great heart. As we can read from Il Mattino: "the council has arranged to make a withdrawal of eight thousand euros from the reserve fund to purchase fur...

Netflix announces a new show based on Antoni Porowski’s sexually-fluid life.

Antoni Porowski always spoke freely about dating men and women. We all remember Queer Eye and one of his most enigmatic characters, Antoni Porowski who always refused to identify him-self as purely gay. According to Hollywood Reporter, Porowski developed the story with Black-ish creative Kenya Barris, Andrew Rhymer and Jeff Chan.  Antoni has always spoken candidly about the fact that since he started dating men too, he found himself comparing his body to those of the men he dated. He said he always found himself comparing his own body to the men he dates, from the size of their biceps to the length of their legs…and so on. To GQ magazine he told: “I feel like if I do refer to myself as gay, which would make it easier for people to understand sometimes, I feel like it dishonou...

Demi Lovato and Sam Smith: the Olympic LGBT+ duo

Are Olympic Games postponed because of Covid-19 pandemic? No worries, Smith and Lovato duo will make us dream anyway. The cover of their new single - out this Friday 17th April 2020 - pictures the two artists as a sport team ready to represent the LGBT+ community at the next Olympic Games, and honestly, we can’t wait for this single to be released. 'I'm Ready' is the latest track to be released from Sam’s third album which originally had to be called “To Die For”. A choice that resulted not to be the best one given the actual situation of the number of deaths for Coronavirus.  The artist decided to postpone the effective release fo the album to a new date (t.b.c) and find a better name for it. This Monday, on his social media channels, Sam Smith wrote: “Incredibly happy to re...

Jade Thirlwall and Little Mix to possibly release a song dedicated to the Trans Community

You need to practice what you preach. Little Mix just released “Break Up Song” as the lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album, and Jade together with longtime collaborator Camille Purcell wrote a song that they think it is perfect to represent Trans people around the world. Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix spoke to Glamour last week, and said it’s essential for people to be allies of the LGBT+ community, especially during this hard time we are all facing because of Covid-19. She also said: “We’re all in self isolation and some LGBT+ people might be in a home or a family environment where they’re not very supportive of being who they are. So, if you know anybody who is in that circumstance, reach out to them, message them, show them how much you support and love them – there...

A Filippino politician created very homophobic and shameful punishments for LGBT+ people not respecting isolation amid Covid-19 pandemic.

Filippino’s craziness.  A Filipino politician reportedly forced some LGBT+ people - which did not respect isolation during this Coronavirus pandemic - to kiss each other and perform “sexy dance” in front of minors and other people as a punishment. Christopher Bombing Punzalan - this is the name of this captain (elected chairman) of the Pandacaqui barangay (district) - he particularly targeted LGBT+ people (according to Rappler) and if he found them out of their houses “breaking the rules” of Covid-19 curfew, he started punishing them in very humiliating ways. He also posted a series of Facebook live videos of him confronting a group breaking the 8pm lockdown curfew, those videos have now been deleted. (Who know why?) He accused a group of gay people he found out in the streets to be o...

Uganda: 20 people arrested because they were gay, but police say it was Covid-19 prevention.

Uganda denies that 20 arrested people were targeted because they were gay. Fourteen gay men, two bisexual men and four transgender women were arrested on March 29th when police raided a refuge on the outskirts of the Ugandan capital Kampala. At least four of the 20 people arrested live with HIV and cannot have access to life-saving drugs, according to an activist. The police accused all 20 people of defying the rules of social distancing, but activists accuse the authorities of using the coronavirus pandemic excuse to target country's LGBT+ minorities. Patricia Kimera, a lawyer who is defending the group with the Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum, said that those people living with HIV are denied access to antiretroviral drugs and that all 20 of them run the risk of contrac...

Pride 2020: when coronavirus gets in the way

Pride is a parade of peaceful fight for the fundamental rights of the life of all LGBT+ people, and it is precisely life that must be protected. Therefore it would be truly irresponsible to continue without second thoughts, and allow the normal running of Pride Parades all over the world. We are facing a global pandemic, an epidemic that is destabilising us all and changing the way we live life everyday together with our future projects. How many of us have had to postpone graduation parties, birthdays, important celebrations and weddings? All is done for a greater good (sure), for the health of mankind and our loved ones but we admit it hurts. So here is that even Pride Parades 2020 around the world suffer from the effects of coronavirus (or Covid-19, whatever you want to call it)....

Covid-19: LGBT+ people still seeking for hook-ups on line despite restrictions.

Two in ten LGBT+ people would still consider online dating/hook-ups amid this coronavirus pandemic. Researchers would explain it as a need to fill a loss of intimacy during this historic moment, more than anything else.  All this, of course, goes against the restrictive measures that almost the whole world is applying to stem Covid-19 pandemic that is redefining our daily lives and routines. Despite the increasing numbers of deaths due to coronavirus, it seems that about 28% of LGBT+ people would still consider casual hook-ups (mainly for sex) through famous dating apps; according to the Queer Voices Heard report published on Tuesday. Participants for the social business group who took part to this survey, described community's "real fear" of the viral epidemic, with 57% of responde...

Lady Gaga: our Sailor Moon paladin of Pop and Love in Stupid Love

We have all waited a long time for her return to the "origins" and she has not disappointed us. The stories related to the songs and those videos that seem like episodes of TV series, of those series that we all love and look forward to when the next episode is released to learn about the evolution of the plot, the lives and destinies of the characters but above all - at least in this case - to live the new adventures of Chromatica, the new paladin of love. Stupid Love is a song that at times recalls the settings and rhythms of "Born this way", which develops thanks to an easy and direct text, that we all sang it already after the first minute of listening, and to a refrain that immediately gets into your head. A video that opens with a small story that helps us understand the meaning o...
